Choose Update Method (Step 3)
Step 3: Z-Flash supports three methods for updating your devices. Choose the method that best suits your system type or situation.
- Update Method: Independent Network
Instructions for updating with an independent network. With this method, devices are first removed (excluded) from the primary Z-Wave network and then added (included) into a separate network for use with Z-Flash.
- Update Method: Shared Network
With this method, Z-Flash connects to the existing external Z-Wave interface (SmartStick+, UZB stick, Z-Stick, Z-NET) and devices are updated using the primary Z-Wave network.
- Update Method: Secondary Controller
With this method, Z-Flash is added to your existing primary Z-Wave network as a Z-Wave secondary controller and devices are updated on the primary network.
Adding Firmware files
Manufacturers are welcome to include their own firmware files with the Z-Flash application. Firmware files may be included as Intel HEX files or may be encrypted using the HECEncrypt tool. This doc will show you how.
