Settings Pages

A page used to configure the way a plugin behaves.

A plugin with nothing to configure is acceptable, but a blank settings page will still be presented to users to explicitly indicate this.

Cancel and save buttons will be presented to the user when they are on these pages. Any changes made to settings by the user are only sent to the plugin when they click the save button.

On this page:

Tabs

Although only one "settings" link is presented to users for each plugin in the UI, multiple settings pages can be registered.  When more than one settings page is registered to a plugin, each page is represented by a tab in a horizontal list of tabs within the core settings link.  This is useful when there is need to organize a lot of settings into groups of similar configuration options.

Settings grouped together under meaningful titles makes it much easier for users to find the setting they are looking for over having them scroll through a long, vertical list
