HomeSeer HS4-Pi Install Guide
Installation guide for running HS4 on a Raspberry Pi.
HS4 for Linux is a modified version of HS4 that runs under Linux. It is full HS4 with the following exceptions:
- No VBScript support (.txt scripts). VB.Net scripting and C# scripting is supported
HS4 for Linux does not require a distinct license. Your HS4 standard or PRO license will work, though note that you can only use one license per installation.
This guide will allow you as the user to use your Raspberry Pi to run HS4. When installed on the Raspberry Pi, HS4-Pi creates an ultra-small, powerful home automation gateway controller.
MicroSD cards can be flashed on Windows, Linux, or Mac. this guide will walk you through the installation process on a Windows PC.
Requirements
- Raspberry Pi3 or newer
- Blank 32GB microSD Card or larger
- Windows PC with minimum 31GB of free disk space
- SD Card reader

- HomeSeer HS4 Raspberry Pi Image (4GB zip file)
- Etcher (image flashing)
Setup
These instructions have been tested under Debian and Ubuntu.
1. Download the HS4RPiV7.zip file.
2. Once the download is finished, extract the HS4RPiV7.img file from the zip folder. This may take up to 20 minutes.
3. Download, install, and run Etcher.
4. Insert blank SD card into SD card reader.
5. Select the HS4rPiV7.img file and the correct drive letter of your SD card. Click Flash. The process could take up to 20
minutes.
6. Once the flash completes, remove your SD card and insert into your Pi.
7. Boot up will take about a minute. Go to find.homeseer.com to start using HS4!
