Information on the Z-Wave Plus Manage Devices function.
Overview
The Manage Devices page provides detailed information about each Z-Wave device (node) in your system. Tools on this page are also used when migrating from the legacy Z-Wave plugin to Z-Wave Plus.
Accessing Manage Devices
-
Navigate to Plugins > Z-Wave Plus > Manage Devices.
-
In the blue bar, select the network you wish to manage devices for. (Most users will have just one network). In this example, we’ll look at the SmartStick G8 network.
Device Status Key
The online status of individual devices are represented by the following icons:
-
A green check mark indicates the device is online and ready to be monitored and controlled with Z-Wave Plus.
-
A red question mark indicates the device is offline or not ready to be monitored and controlled with Z-Wave Plus.
-
Check to make sure the device is powered and not currently being interviewed by Z-Wave Plus.
-
-
An orange warning sign indicates the device is online but there is no HomeSeer HS4 device associated with it.
-
Click the UPDATE button on the right to automatically create an HS4 device for this.
-
Accessing Device Details
Click the name of any device to reveal its detailed information.
Here is what these attributes mean:
-
Home ID: A unique identifier that groups all the devices belonging to the same Z-Wave network together.
-
Node ID: A unique address assigned to each individual device on the network so it can be identified separately.
-
Location: The room or area of your home where the device is physically located, as set up in HS4.
-
Name: A user-defined label given to the device to easily identify it in HS4 (for example, "Overhead Light").
-
Manufacturer: The company that made the physical device. This information is pulled automatically from the device itself.
-
Product: The category or type of product the device is classified as. This information is pulled automatically from the device itself.
-
Product Code: The device's part number or SKU, typically used to identify the exact model. This information is pulled automatically from the device itself.
-
Firmware Version: The version number of the software that is built into the device's hardware.
-
Ready: Indicates whether the device is successfully communicating with the Z-Wave Plus network. Displays either Yes or No.
-
Status: The current state or condition of the device (for example, on, off, or unresponsive).
-
HS Device Ref: A unique reference number that HS4 automatically assigns to every device in its device list for internal tracking.
Manage Devices Tools
These four buttons appears at the bottom of the window:
-
ADD Z-WAVE DEVICE - Use this to add new Z-Wave devices to your system. Refer to Add Device for more information.
-
REMOVE Z-WAVE DEVICE - Use this to remove Z-Wave devices from your system. Refer to Remove Device for more information.
-
CREATE/UPDATE HS DEVICES - When clicked, this will scan all devices in the list above and compare that to the devices already shown on the HS4 Devices page. If there are any missing HS4 devices, they will be created automatically. If there are any discrepancies in the names or features of existing HS4 devices, those devices will be updated.
CAUTION: If you have renamed any HS4 device features, running this function will reset those names to their factory defaults. For that reason, we recommend updating individual devices instead by using the UPDATE button associated with each device.
-
CONVERT LEGACY EVENT ACTIONS - This function is designed to convert legacy Z-Wave event actions to a format that’s compatible with Z-Wave Plus. You should run this when migrating from the Z-Wave legacy plugin to Z-Wave Plus.
