Release Notes

PC Controller & Firmware (for Z-NET PRO)
(800 Series)

  • Upgrade from 7.23.4 to 7.24.1

Added in 7.24.1

Improved the Series 800 radio reception capability in environments crowded by wake-up beams.

Added in 7.24.0

  • Improved Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) reliability. Previously, only the latest measured RSSI value was used instead of the highest value in the RX window.

  • Updated Clock Manager API calls to the new SL clock_manager module API calls.

  • Replaced previous logging approach with new logging system via ZPAL Log API, introducing component based enablement, log levels, and routing capability to different output channels.

  • Made NVM initialization significantly faster when many user codes are used with User Code Command Class by creation of ZAF_FILE_ID_CC_USER_CODE_HEADER to store a new database. The database stores flags about the validity of the corresponding User Code. This removes the limitation of CC_USER_CODE_MAX_IDS, increasing its range to 255.

  • Added more descriptive error messages for invalid .cc_config file contents.

  • Modularized the User Credential Command Class handler functions from CCUserCredential.c. Related upstream issue in Z-Wave Alliance Open Source

  • Adapted the User Credential Command Class behavior according to Z-Wave specification rule change, where the CC:0083.01.0C.11.015 requirement has been removed. Credential Get commands where the UUID does not match the database is answered with a "Credential doesn't exist" type of response.

  • Merged Zniffer NCP and Zniffer PTI into a single sample application (zwave_ncp_zniffer).

Procedure

Please read these instructions carefully before updating your stick. Note that the following instructions reference the UI in the Z-Wave Core plugin. If you are running the UI plugin, you still have access to the same functions but the UI will be different.

  1. Download and extract the files to a Windows PC. This can be the PC running HomeSeer or another PC. The zip contains a folder named "pc controller" and a file with a .GBL extension. The GBL file is the firmware update file and the pc controller is a tool you will use to apply the update to your Z-NET.

  2. Backup your Z-NET PRO node information, following the instructions for your particular hub software.

  3. Shut down your hub to disconnect it from the Z-NET PRO.

  4. Power-cycle the Z-NET PRO and ensure that the Z-Wave LED is not lit.

  5. In the pc-controller folder where you unzipped the files, run the EXE "ZWaveControllerUI.exe" program.

If you get a “Windows protected your PC” pop-up, click More info and then click Run anyway to launch the PC Controller.

  1. Click on the gear icon at the top of the screen. Click the Add button below and change the Source Type to Serial API, then enter the IP Address of your Z-NET and Port Number 2001 (our default Z-NET port setting). Then click OK.

  2. In the upper right corner of the screen you will see a button labeled "OTW Firmware Update". Click that and it will prompt for a file. Select the .GBL file that was in the download zip.

  3. The update should start immediately. Wait for this to finish.

  4. Shut down PC Controller and restart your hub. The process is complete.
